Stainless Steel interiors offer many advantages compared to a plastic tub, but the main benefit is it's resistance to bacterial growth, mold, or odors. Plastic tubs have a porous surface which will very likely need to be scrubbed from time to time to keep the inside of your Dishwasher sanitary. Stainless steel doesn't absorb moisture or odors, and is chemically inert, inhibiting microbial growth. The benefits do not stop there, however. Stainless Steel is also much more durable, which can add 10 - 15 years to the lifespan of your dishwasher compared to their plastic interior counterparts. Finally, Stainless Steel retains heat better, speeding up your dry cycle, with less energy wasted.
