Crescent ice is the industry standard for icemakers, both standalone and those found in a refrigerator. The name "crescent" comes from its shape: each piece looks like a half-moon. In contrast to crushed ice or pebble ice, each piece is relatively large with a hard surface, designed to melt slowly. Compared to "Craft Ice", which is the largest and melts the slowest, crescent ice strikes a happy medium, versatile enough to fit in all cup sizes.
