A rapid spin cycle extracts a considerable amount of water from your clothes before they even enter the dryer, cutting much of the subsequent time needed in a dryer. Some manufacturers may refer to this same feature as "Maximum G-Force", referring to the amount of force applied directly to the clothes to wring out water. Front-Load washers generally will perform best on this front for two reasons: 1) a horizontal drum axle can efficiently accommodate a faster spin, and 2) gravity is also applied to the clothes to compound the total g-force applied to the clothes. A maximum RPM rating of 1000 or higher is generally considered good, with some models reaching up to 1500.
